Celebrating the Year of the Dragon

During Lunar New Year, Chiao Hsin students and staff express their love for their culture, heritage, and traditions by performing lion dance, learning about the twelve zodiac animals, and dressing in traditional attire. Some of our students from the kung fu school “Kong Siu Lum Pai Kung Fu Association” performed a lion dance for their peers. Decorations dyed in bright vibrant red colors welcomed the students as they celebrated the new year. The students also each received a red envelope from the teacher and principal. Many of the students learned Lunar New Year stories and phrases during this time. Celebrating Lunar New Year is important at Chiao Hsin because we get to share culture and tradition with our school community.
