Note to Families: April

This Third Grade website is new to our students. The first few times logging on, your child will need help navigating the website as well as coming up with a plan to do the lessons.

Once your child understands what is expected, he/she should try these activities independently.

Weekly Writing Goals:

1. Students will write an opinion piece about a math game they played.

2. Students will include a topic sentence, three reasons to support their opinion and a conclusion.

Materials You Need

Computer, phone, tablet or device to create a document.
Play Your Math Games found in the Remote Learning - Week 1 Folder on Schoology.
Bring Your wonderful ideas!
Have Fun!

Weekly LESSON:

I Can Write an Opinion Piece!

Steps for Learning:

1. Play the math games: Geometry games in Bridges Games, unit 6.

2. Decide which math game you liked best.

3. Use this slideshow to help you plan and edit your opinion piece.

4. Share your assignment with your teacher.

How family members can help with learning:

Play math games with your child.
Help your child brainstorm reasons why they prefer or liked one game over the other.
Let your child read their writing piece to you. (Remember: Let them do the editing & it's ok if they make some mistakes!)

Optional: Extensions & Extras

Create a journal and write about your experiences. "Dear Diary... Today..."
Interview a family member on their favorite types games. Ask them to explain why they prefer those games.
- Write it, make a video, or find another fun way to capture the interview.
Write an opinion piece about the game from a different perspective. Think of the game you didn't like, what would someone that liked the game say?
