How family members can help with reading:
How family members can help with reading:
- Foster your child's reading habit at home by holding them accountable for reading each day. Second grade students should be reading at least 20-30 minutes per day, but the longer the better!
- Help your child find a good spot for reading with little distractions and good light. Setting up pillows for a comfy reading spot is always a favorite in the classroom!
- Help them form strong reading habits by checking-in, asking them what they read about, timing their reading, and helping them track their progress. After a few times with guidance, your child will know the routines and expectations!

- Take a photo of your favorite way to read and share it with your teacher. Remember to always ask permission before taking and sharing any pictures!
- Have fun and just read! Choose a favorite book and make a movie in your mind! Reread your favorite book.
- Set a reading challenge. How many books can you read in a month? Keep track.
