This Third Grade website is new to our students. The first few times logging on, your child will need help navigating the website as well as coming up with a plan to do the lessons.
Once your child understands what is expected, he/she should try these activities independently.
Weekly Reading Goals:
1. Students will read one fiction and one nonfiction book.
2. Then go to Schoology in the “Week 1 Book Review” discussion. Respond to the prompt. (see the slideshow below for instructions)
3. Students will investigate a variety of online learning tools for reading.
4. Read for 20-30 minutes each day.
Materials You Need
Books to read or a device to login to Epic! Books, RAZ Kids, OverDrive and ARC Bookshelf.
A computer or device to work on Schoology later.
Reading LESSON:
Share a book recommendation!
Look through these Google Slides to learn how to add your Book Review to the Schoology Discussion.
Foster your child's reading habit at home by holding them accountable for reading each day. Second grade students should be reading at least 20-30 minutes per day, but the longer the better!
Help your child find a good spot for reading with little distractions and good light. Setting up pillows for a comfy reading spot is always a favorite in the classroom!
Help them form strong reading habits by checking-in, asking them what they read about, timing their reading, and helping them track their progress. After a few times with guidance, your child will know the routines and expectations!
Optional: Extensions & Extras
Take a photo of your favorite way to read and share it with your teacher. Remember to always ask permission before taking and sharing any pictures!
Have fun and just read! Choose a favorite book and make a movie in your mind! Reread your favorite book.
Set a reading challenge. How many books can you read in a month? Keep track.
