Jan VanStavern had two objectives for her Technical Writing course: First, she wanted to help her students understand the benefits and pitfalls of AI generated writing tools. Second, she wanted to find ways to alleviate the frustrations many students felt when doing group work in asynchronous environment.
To this end, she curated a set of AI articles and created a video that the students could use when participating in a low stakes group project.
At the end of the project, she asked her students to reflect on their AI experience and what they learned. These reflections are included as an appendix to her excellent report.
