The Chemeketa Faculty Recognition Event celebrates the contributions of all Chemeketa faculty to the betterment of our campus. Please join your colleagues in recognizing individual, group, and program achievements in teaching, leadership, service, innovation, affordability, and increasing access that have made the college experience better for students and our community.
Nominations are now open for the 2nd annual Chemeketa faculty recognition awards. Please nominate individuals, groups, and programs that have made the college experience better for students and our community through their achievements in leadership, service, innovation, affordability, and increasing access. All employees of Chemeketa may submit nominations, and employees may submit more than one nomination.
To submit, fill out the nomination form by April 5, 2024. A committee of faculty, staff, and administrators will review the nominations.
Recognitions will be awarded at a ceremony on Thursday, May 30, at 3:00 pm in the Ag Science Center (B60).
All Chemeketa faculty may be nominated in one or more of the following categories: service, leadership, innovation, affordability, and accessibility. Please see the categories below for eligibility guidelines. Nominees may be individuals, groups, programs, or projects, but must be faculty-led.
This year, we will recognize faculty achievements from Spring 2023 to Winter 2024.
Nominees have contributed service beyond their faculty role and core college responsibilities. Activities that demonstrate the giving of themselves, their time, and their expertise could include:
Service to the College Community
Optional department/program responsibilities
Committees, task forces, projects, college organizations
Student clubs or campus student programs
Facilitator, presenter, mentor
Statewide council membership
External service
Professional organization activities
Community committees, projects, and activities

Nominees have demonstrated a commitment to the college by serving and inspiring students, faculty and administrators. Nominees have taken initiative to guide, motivate, and organize the work of their colleagues productively.
Examples of the nominee’s work could include:

Mentoring full-time or part-time faculty

Serving as Super Program Chair

Nominees have demonstrated educational innovation through their use of instructional methods, content, technology, or tools. Examples of innovation could include:
Increasing student engagement through new methods
Developing critical-thinking and creativity in students
Fostering student-developed work, collaboration or open pedagogy
Creating authentic learning and assessments
Developing design thinking in students by using an iterative process to understand topics, redefine problems, and create new solutions to prototype and test

Nominees have shown a commitment to lowering the costs of course materials for students. Examples of the nominee’s work could include:
Adopting affordable textbooks or course materials
Authoring affordable textbooks or course materials
Participating in efforts to lower the cost of course materials for students
Advocating for affordable learning materials

Nominees have shown a commitment to reducing barriers to educational opportunity for all students. Whether delivering an in-person, hybrid, or online course, they have designed course materials that all students can access and use fully and independently. Instructors may have also provided resources that allow students to remain engaged and progressing in their course, even while experiencing temporary setbacks (e.g., illness, incarceration, caretaking responsibilities). Examples of the nominee’s work could include:
Meeting the Accessibility Challenge
Completing an accessibility audit with Chemeketa’s Digital Accessibility Advocate
Promoting accessibility tools and techniques with colleagues
Increasing student access to course sessions or content in a unique way, like an exceptional dual-delivery approach
Implementing UDL-based strategies that reduce barriers
