Daily Lunch Procedures
Lunch for the second grade students will be from 11:30-12:15
The second graders will eat in the cafeteria and then go outside for recess
As you may be aware, the Cheltenham School District contracted with a new food service provider in the late Spring 2022. The great news is that most of the procedures will remain the same. The most effective way to get up to date information is checking the Food Services tab on the District’s Home page CLICK HERE
Paying for Lunch: The same system that has been used previously will be used again this year. Children will enter their ID code using the keypad. Parents are able to add money to the accounts through https://www.cheltenham.org/departments/food-services/paying-for-meals .
*Breakfast is free for all students.
Lunch is $2.95 per child.
As a parent/guardian, you will be able to see exactly how much money students have in their account and what they purchased.
Menu and Ordering: The menu can be found on-line through the Food Services Department tab. It can also be accessed here: https://www.fdmealplanner.com/#menu/mealPlanner/199/1073/2
Students will order a day in advance for their lunch if they plan on purchasing.
If, for some reason, you child forgets their lunch and needs to purchase a lunch, we will make sure that they are able to do that. I promise you that I will not let a child go hungry.
Snacks – Eventually, there will be a system in place for children to purchase snacks. I will let you know when we are ready to roll that out so that you can communicate with your child the parameters of purchasing a snack. For example, they can only purchase one snack for themselves. Again, you will be able to track their purchasing and spending habits on-line.
Food Restrictions/Allergies
If a child has a food restriction and it is related to a medical issue, you will need to submit a note from the child’s doctor. Once we receive the notification, we can then highlight on your child’s account.
If a child has a dietary restriction for any other reason, such as a religious reason, the parent can simply send an email to Vanessa Kukulski, the assistant manager. Her email is vkukulski@cheltenham.org. Again, this information will be highlighted on your child’s account.
Table Assignments –Students will sit with their class for lunch at assigned tables. Some teachers might assign individual seats at the table. That is solely at the teacher’s discretion.
Peanut Free Table – We do have some tables designated as peanut free for children with nut allergies. Students who need to have lunch at that table will be invited to ask a friend or two to sit with them (as long as the peer has a peanut free lunch!). It’s vitally important that your child have the socialization aspect of lunch.
Breakfast- All student will have the opportunity to order a free breakfast each morning. Breakfast will be delivered to our classroom each morning.
