Here, at Wyncote Elementary School, we will be using PBIS, a school wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Please refer to the Wyncote handbook (that was handed out in the beginning of the year) to review our school wide positive behavior plan.
How will Wyncote's PBIS be Implemented in Room 204?
I firmly believe that life-long success depends on self-discipline. I have developed a classroom plan that allows every student the opportunity to manage his/her own behavior. Your child deserves a positive educational climate, which enables growth. Therefore, this plan will be in effect at all times.
The following rules are the classroom rules that the students and I developed the first week of school:
Follow directions 1st time given
Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself
Listen when someone is talking
Raise your hand to share or ask a question
Be kind and respectful (No put downs!)
Always walk
The student's behavior will be monitored on a daily basis. In the classroom, I use a clip up/clip down chart.
Every student will start each day on "ready to learn"
Students who do a good job and exceed expectations will be asked "clip up" throughout the day. Students can clip up to "great effort", "excellent choices" or "outstanding"
If a student needs reminders they may be asked to clip down to "think about it", "make better choices" or "parent contact"
At the end of the day students whose clips are on "excellent choices" will be rewarded with a star coupon or a small treat (a Hershey Kiss, starburst or smartie) . Students on "outstanding" will be rewarded with 2 star coupons or 1 star coupon and 1 treat.
Students can save their coupons and once they have 10 they can go to the treasure box.
Students who are on "make better choices" will lose a short portion of their recess to talk about their behavior.
Students who are on "parent contact" will be having a note sent home or an email will be sent.
The class, as well as individual students, will earn PBIS points. Each month they will be able to use their points to shop at our school store.
SWIS behavior write ups are a part of our PBIS program and will also be used when a student does not follow classroom or school rules. All SWIS referral forms will be sent to Mr. Taylor and will be emailed home as well.
