Welcome to the Changemakers program hosted by the Cedar Hill Collegiate Prep Elem PTA! We believe that even the youngest scholars can make a big impact through service, leadership, and kindness. Each month, our PreK–5th grade scholars take part in projects that strengthen our school, serve our community, and help them grow into compassionate leaders.
Our Principal has granted a special one-day exception for our Changemakers!
On Thursday, November 20, scholars may wear their OFFICIAL Changemakers T-shirt with standard uniform bottoms (NO JEANS).
Let’s show our Changemakers pride while honoring the guidelines that allow us to receive special permissions like this in the future!
We are excited to recognize six Collegiate Prep scholars — all proud Changemakers — who participated in this year’s National PTA Reflections Program. Each student showcased their creativity, leadership, and unique voice through the arts.
We’re incredibly proud of their commitment to expressing themselves and representing our Changemakers community with excellence.
Alright Changemaker Families! Let's go out to the City's FB page to react to and comment about the amazing work our scholars are doing! Let's show 'em who we are, Changemakers Nation! :)
A heartfelt thank-you to the families who took time this week to join our Changemakers Overview & Q&A! You showed true commitment by investing just 45 minutes to better understand how the program works, what to expect this year, and the heart behind it all — building leadership, responsibility, and compassion through service. If you couldn’t make it, you missed a clear roadmap for success (and a few insider tips that make all the difference 😉). Visit the Project Hub to get caught up and stay connected — our next projects are already in motion!
It’s hard to believe we’re wrapping up another month — and that the second six weeks is already nearing an end! Time is flying, but our Changemakers continue to make every moment count.
We proudly completed Project 2, our two-part service project benefiting the senior citizens at Crestview Court Nursing Home. Our scholars showed such heart, and we’re already looking forward to more opportunities to serve our GrandFriends in the future. A very special thank-you to Helsa Thompson who identified, created, and desiged our fall package activity for our blessing packages!
Next up, we’re gearing up for Project 3: Citywide Beautification on Saturday, November 9! We’ve even secured a new cleanup location — a huge thank-you to Tracy Barber for the idea and legwork to make it happen.
On Monday, November 3, we officially launch our two holiday drives:
🥫 Horns for Hope Holiday Food Drive, benefiting Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry
🧣 Warm Hugs for GrandFriends, collecting winter accessories for residents at Crestview Court
We encourage all Changemaker families to spread the word and contribute however they can — every can, scarf, and blanket makes a difference!
We also kicked off Project 4: Holiday Packing Party Overview, where we’ll organize and pack all donated items for delivery. Registration opens the week of November 10, and the project will take place Thursday, November 20, after school — just before Thanksgiving Break.
A special shoutout goes to Yoli Smith, who singlehandedly managed the entire t-shirt order process from start to finish — even packing and delivering all shirts a full week ahead of schedule so everyone is ready for next Saturday’s project. Thank you, Yoli!
Finally, mark your calendars: our Virtual Changemakers Overview + Q&A Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday next week. These 45-minute sessions are a great opportunity to refresh on program expectations, learn about upcoming projects, and get your questions answered. Just register online and join us virtually!
Together, we’re continuing to lead with kindness and grow through service — one project, one family, and one act of good at a time. 💛
This November, our Changemakers are spreading kindness in two ways — collecting winter essentials for our GrandFriends at Crestview Court (Winter Hugs for Grandfriends) and helping local families enjoy a holiday meal through the Horns for Hope Holiday food drive. Together, we’re wrapping our community in warmth, comfort, and care. Make sure to spread the word and participate where you can! More details coming soon on how our Changemakers will take part in both of these amazing opportunities!
Registration for the City's Fall Beautification Day opens on Wed 10/29. In the meantime, check out project details on our Project Hub!

Fri, Oct 10.Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
We’ve got 90 Changemakers registered for our take-home project, and art kits were delivered to classrooms by 12:30 PM today!
Please check your scholar’s belongings when they get home to secure the kit and set aside time to complete the project before the due date.
Open your Changemaker kit to see what’s inside — then let their creativity shine! Scholars are encouraged to add their own decorations or personal flair, going beyond what’s provided in the kit.
Aim to start the project at least 2–3 days before it’s due so you have time to be creative and pick up any extra supplies you might need. The sooner, the better.
Get full project details on the Project Hub!
Project kits are due to Prep's front office on Wed, Oct 22, 2025. No extensions.
Our friends at Notebook LM helped bring the Changemakers story to life — with a sprinkle of AI magic that might make us sound slightly larger-than-life. 😉
Give it a watch and see how technology sees our kindness in action!
SAVE THE DATE: We’ve confirmed our nursing home visit for Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4–6 PM. Registration will open mid to late next week once logistics are finalized, and spots may be limited. Stay tuned for details—watch our GroupMe and your email for the sign-up link!

This month, Changemakers will spread kindness to local senior citizens through our Fall Blessing project! Scholars can complete a take-home packet (letter, coloring page, and craft) for 1 service hour, and we’re working to confirm an in-person nursing home visit on Thurs 10/23 for 2 additional hours. Click here for full details and registration.
While not a Changemakers project, Reflections is a great opportunity for scholars to express themselves through art, music, dance, writing, film, or photography — and be recognized at the local, state, and national level!

This year, we’re turning our Horns of Hope Holiday Food Drive into a districtwide movement! We’ve invited PTAs across Cedar Hill to team up with us in supporting Cedar Hill Shares, with a shared goal of providing holiday meals for 500 families in our community.
We’re thrilled to share that Plummer Elementary PTA has already joined the effort—and we couldn’t be more excited to work side-by-side with them!. Together, we’re showing what collaboration looks like when schools unite for a common cause.
Check out the flyer for all the details—and get ready to help us make a BIG impact this holiday season! Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Changemakers, it’s time to get creative! Submit your design for this year’s official T-shirt by Thursday, 9/25 and earn 1 service hour. Your artwork could be the one we all wear with pride! Check out our Project Hub for more details!
This year, Changemakers are excited to continue our commitment to Longhorn Park while also adopting Calf Pasture Park as a new service site! By caring for both parks, our scholars will help keep these community spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for families, neighbors, and visitors. From picking up litter to planting seeds of pride in our city, each cleanup is a chance for our young leaders to make a visible difference right where they live, learn, and play. Let's go, Changemakers!
The 2025–2026 Changemakers are 104 scholars strong, with our largest groups in 5th grade (23%) and 2nd grade (20%). Guided by our motto — Leading with kindness, growing through service — our students will complete 8 core service projects this year, beginning with a community park cleanup on Saturday, September 27.
Registration is now closed. Enrollment for the 2026–2027 Changemakers will open in August 2026.
