What is "Language?"

Language refers to a method of communication. There are two main areas of language:

Expressive Language - the child's ability to communicate his/her thoughts and feelings using age appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Expressive language includes verbal expression and written expression.

Receptive Language - the child's ability to remember and understand language. Receptive language includes auditory comprehension (information heard) and reading comprehension.
