2019-2020 will be the first year of new curriculum designed to mix 21st century skills with the music and entertainment industry. Students will approach music as songwriters, producers, sound engineers and attempt to make musical decisions and problem solve in the our new age of electronic music.
Chord Progression(%20)
In order to be successful in digital music, students will need to have a basic knowledge of music theory. Students will need to demonstrate this within the first two weeks of the course by per- forming on the piano or guitar for the teacher to assess.
Podcast Project(%20)
Students will spend two classes creating a podcast of their own design on a digital workstation.
Soundation- Elements Project(%20)
Students will complete a project using a digital audio workstation complete with 4 different elements of music. They will have 2 days in class to complete this.
Vocabulary Quiz(%15) Cumulative
Students will be required to learn an extensive vocabulary to be functional with digital music and there will be a formal assessment at the end of the MP.
Journal (%10) Cumulative
We will also listen to, discuss, analyze, and compare a piece of music using a journal during every class period. This will account for current events as well as several cross curricular ELA goals within Carusi.
