MS CTE Happenings Spring 2026

In January and throughout the spring semester, students at all 4 CHCCS middle schools used VR headsets to explore various careers. Career and Technical Education students also worked on various class projects. Members of the Medical Explorers club at Smith learned about caring for babies from a pediatric nurse. While McDougle Medical Explorers gained firsthand knowledge from a pediatric cardiologist.

February was CTE Month, a time to celebrate CTE programs, teachers and students! Special delivery, new CTE shirts for the middle school CTE Team! Medical Explorers from several middle schools also engaged in Stop the Bleed sessions, learning how to properly apply a tourniquet.

March was a busy month, full of middle school career exploration experiences! Students participated in Exploring Architecture sessions, faciliated by local architect, Heather Ferrell of Prism Design Lab. 

Medical Explorers at McDougle Middle learned about all the cool tools in Dr. Dolly Penn's medical bag. The Medical Explorers presenters at the other middle schools included a GMP Technician, Public Health Specialist, and ECHHS HOSA members.  All 6th grade Medical Explorers also toured the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and learned about various dental careers.

PMS Technology Education students toured Enbridge Gas in Cary and learned about the natural gas industry. PMS Tech students also designed and built games.
