Jazz Band

This year we will be starting a Jazz Band at GMH!  Students who participate will have the opportunity to experience a different style of music than what we perform during the regular day.

How Can I Join?

Depending on the amount of student interest, students may have to audition to join.  This audition will include playing a few scales, as well as preparing one jazz tune (provided by Ms. Parsons when you sign up).  This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Some instrument sections may not require auditions to join.

When Is It?

Jazz band will rehearse Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 7:15 - 7:45 AM.  Rehearsal begins right at 7:15.

Performances

Jazz band will perform at our winter and spring concerts, and will also have additional performance opportunities throughout the school year.  As our program evolves, more performance opportunities may become available to us.

• Travel to PES to perform for elementary schoolers

Attendance

If a student auditions for jazz band and makes it in, they are expected to be at every rehearsal every week, just like students are expected to come to school.  Students who frequently show up late to rehearsals or no-show will be replaced with students who were waitlisted for the ensemble.
