As of Monday, March 30th, UNC-TV is providing students in grades four through 12 with a robust schedule of programs. The educational programming block will be available over the air on the North Carolina Channel and streamed live at unctv.org/athomelearning. This vetted, curriculum-informed programming is available Monday-Friday, from 8 AM-1 PM, for grades four through eight, and from 1-6 PM, for grades nine through 12 (actual times may vary, please check the weekly schedule online at unctv.org/ahl). This is an evolving effort on the part of UNC-TV and NCDPI and will be adapted as needed over coming weeks to best serve the needs of North Carolina’s children.

Since the 2015-2016 school year, Chatham Arts Council’s Chatham Artists-in-Schools Initiative has brought professional artists into schools to support math, science, language, and history curricula. Through interactive, engaging workshops taught by theatre actors, performance artists, dancers, mural painters, African drummers, and strings musicians, students have unique opportunities for a deeper engagement with learning objectives.

Social Emotional Learning Activities

  • Free resources – lessons, activities, and printables related to Communication, Cooperation, Emotion Regulation, Empathy, Impulse Control, and Social Initiation. Age-appropriate for elementary and middle school students and are typically used in a classroom or a small group setting.

        2. “I can be a SUPER FRIEND!” -- While it references being a friend at school, it could easily be related to being a good friend with siblings.

        4. “I Can Stay Safe” -- Addresses staying with mom and dad and asking before going outside.

        5. “Tucker Turtle Takes Time to Tuck and Think” -- In English and Spanish, this text reminds kids to stop and calm down when they are frustrated.
