Each year in February, the St. John's counseling team visits Haut Gap Middle School to meet with all 8th grade students to give information about St. John's, talk about what we have to offer, and complete course requesting for their first year of high school. Nothing is finalized at this point. It is just the first of many steps in creating schedules. Below are some examples of the forms we share with all 8th grade students.
This is an example of the course registration form we use for incoming freshman. Parents, no need to worry if you don't know what this is. This is just for your information to see what we do with your 8th grade student.
Just a small sample of the sports and clubs that St. John's students participate in, as well as course description for all electives available to 9th grade students.
Honors, AP, CTE, oh my!
All of the advanced courses and special programs that we currently offer at St. John's.
It is EXTREMELY important that families check with the new school you are planning to enroll in before you withdraw from your previous school. If at all possible, families should avoid switching schools mid-semester. Students who transfer from a school with yearlong classes into St. John's, where we have semester long classes, will not be able to retain any credit earned from their previous school. Students who transfer with grades in courses we do not offer will also lose credit for work completed at that time.
When looking to make a school change, whether it is from St. John's or to St. John's, please be sure to speak with the school counseling department to ensure students have the best possible chance of being successful.
