Talk Read Talk Write by Nancy Motley is a practical, classroom-focused book that outlines an instructional framework designed to support students' academic language development. The method emphasizes structured conversations, purposeful reading, and reflective writing to deepen understanding of complex content. Aimed at educators, the book provides strategies to actively engage all learners—especially multilingual learners —by integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing in meaningful ways. It’s a hands-on guide for creating a more interactive and inclusive classroom. 

The book study assignments will be housed in Canvas. All participants to successfully complete this book study will receive 30 renewal credit hours towards recertification. 

As the number of Multilingual Learners (MLs) continues to grow, The ELL Teacher's Toolbox offers teachers a practical, research-based guide to the instructional strategies that are appropriate for all students learning English. This book includes 45 strategies that are designed to help teachers assist students to draw out the gifts and tools they already possess, and to provide them with new ones, so that they can move forward in their academic, social-emotional, and professional/economic lives.
