CHS Charger Happenings

Chartwells staff have been working to offer exciting breakfast and lunch options to the Chariho High School community. Breakfast options have expanded to include smoothies, overnight oats, and scratch-made breakfast breads, such as apple, banana, pear, and pumpkin breads. In December, Chartwells organized a Student Choice Concept, where students voted on their favorite of two main entrees by trying a small sample of each one. The two choices were Chicken Banh Mi and a Chicken Shawarma wrap. Students preferred the Shawarma, so it was added to the January lunch menu. The Chicken Banh Mi was a close second, which was also highlighted on February’s menu. Once a week, the staff have been working to offer entrees with local meats, such as local beef, pork, turkey, and chicken. Gotham Greens in Providence, Rhode Island are featured daily on the sandwich topping bar. March will have weekly Soup-er Tuesday soup offerings as well, which is always a nice treat.

IN MEMORIUM

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Coach Michael "Scotty" McGuire, he was a beloved coach, mentor, and Chariho graduate. Coach Scotty dedicated over a decade to coaching, leaving a lasting impact on countless student-athletes and the entire Chariho community.  Most recently, he coached our girls soccer and girls lacrosse teams.  Coach Scotty was a huge supporter of Chariho extracurriculars and could be frequently seen cheering on our students at various Chariho events.

A familiar face on the field and beyond, Coach Scotty brought joy, encouragement, and support to all who knew him.  His presence will be profoundly missed.   Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his years of service. Please know that we will have counselors available to support students and staff throughout the week.  This morning, we honored his passing through a collective, school-wide moment of silence.  Our flags will be flown at half staff in his honor.
