All Chancellor’s School students in Years 7 to 11 are required to comply with the school’s uniform policy.
They are expected to take pride in the way they look in and around school and on their journey to and from school and whenever in uniform.
They are also expected to wear uniform when representing the school, or attending formal functions arranged by the school.
The school’s uniform guidelines(see below) state clearly what is expected in terms of basic uniform for students in Years 7 to 11. It lists certain items that are not allowed, including makeup and jewellery.
If students do not comply with the guidelines, they will be reprimanded and sanctioned. If necessary, a letter will be sent home and in the case of persistent non-compliers, further sanctions may be used.
Chancellor’s School is sensitive to the needs of different cultures, races, religions and gender identities in relation to uniform and dress code. Cost, quality and the service of the school’s uniform suppliers are closely monitored and changes are made as and when appropriate. It is expected that all items are purchased from the school’s suppliers, or be identical in style and appearance if purchased elsewhere.
Regulations regarding make-up, jewellery, hair colour and hair styles:
No make-up is to be worn at school.
No nail varnish is to be worn at school.
Only one pair of studs may be worn, one in each ear. Studs should be small and plain gold or plain silver ball studs (no stones or coloured inserts).
Any other piercings are against school regulations and students will be required to remove them.
Students are not allowed to wear sweatshirts or ‘hoodies’. For extra warmth a plain white crew tee shirt can be worn under the shirt or blouse.
No denim coats or jackets should be worn to school.
All items of clothing should be clearly marked with the students name.
Coats or anoraks should be dark coloured and as plain as possible.
No boots may be worn by either boys or girls.
No extreme hairstyles or unnatural colours.
We expect your full support in ensuring that school uniform is worn correctly and the rules regarding jewellery, make up or nail varnish in school are followed.
