Standardized Testing

PSAT Letter 2023

On Wednesday, October 11th the High School will have an adjusted schedule as students grades 9 through 11 will take the PSAT.  The PSAT is a practice for the SAT Reasoning Test that provides students and parents feedback about critical academic skills and college readiness.  For juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT also serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program entrance.  

The PSAT is a particularly important test as it yields data utilized by faculty in determining qualification for Advanced Placement courses for the 2024-2025 school year.  Students are encouraged to take a serious approach to the PSAT due to the implications associated with accessing academic opportunities at the High School.  Score reports will be available online in mid-December at studentscores.collegeboard.org.  

Students should report to school at 7:35 AM. Testing will begin promptly at 7:40 AM.  After testing, all students will be released. There are no academic classes that day.  The expected release time would be around 11:00 AM. The library will remain open for those students who need to remain on campus. 

In the event that your child will need early dismissal transportation FROM SCHOOL to HOME on the day of the PSAT. Please complete this form by September 29th. 

What is the cost of the PSAT?  All students, grades 9-11, have been registered for the PSAT.  No further action or fee is required.

What is the format of the PSAT?  The PSAT will be administered digitally this year across grades 9-11.  Students must arrive at school with a charged chromebook. A graphing calculator is built into the testing platform but students may bring their own.

What about seniors? October 11th will serve as our Senior Philanthropy Day. Further details will follow.
