Madison Mosley is a 2023 senior here at CHS. During her time here at Chaffee she has been involved in Cross Country for a year, Student Council for two years, and Band (the last 2 years she got to be a drum major!) for all four years of her high school career. Mosley´s hobbies include reading and hanging out with her friends. Her plans after high school are to go to college to get a career in criminal justice. Mosley´s favorite underclassmen include Colin Menz and Lauren Ludolph. Two of her favorite teachers are Mr. Martin and Mrs. Swinford. She says her role model would definitely be Emma Ramanayake´s mom because she is the hardest working woman she knows. Mosley´s astrology sign is Pisces.
Josh Butler is a Cancer whose first year in digital media was his junior year. He says, “It was probably the best time of my life, being able to edit and make films and go to state for skills.” Butler’s hobbies include video games, UFC, pro wrestling and listening to music 24/7. He loves burritos from Taco Bell and his favorite animals are a husky and a snake. When asked who his role model and/or the person he looks up to, he tells us Jack Lesch, stating that “he is one of my best friends who is on the rise to becoming really successful. Out of all my friends, I can see him going the farthest. He figures out to put a smile on your face even if you’ve had a terrible day. He has a great personality and he makes sure it is his goal.” Butler’s favorite school memory was Skills USA state, he says that was the best time of his schooling. He continued to say that they made a commercial to see who would win. But, during the time he stayed at this hotel, he played hide and seek with the digital media class. During hide and seek, he and his friend, Noah Hutson, hid in the swimming pool. Butler claims his plans following graduation are to “make enough money to move with my friends Jack Lesch, John Hernandez, and William Squiliam.” Lastly, Butler’s favorite underclassmen are Jeremy Price and Nic Kinder.
Miss Rayney Held is a senior here at Chaffee High School, and we’re here to recap some of the interesting things she had to tell us before she leaves us. We asked her what sports and/or clubs she participated in during her 4 years as a high school student. Held told us that she was involved in basketball, track, Robotics, Beta Club, FBLA, STUCO, Shop Club, Pep Club, and Varsity Club for all of her four years. She was in Cross Country for 3 years, softball for 1 year, band for 2 years, FCA for 2 years, and Fine Arts Club for 1 year. Held was quite a busy girl. She said that she loved being a part of all the clubs and activities that she was in because she likes being involved with the things in her school and different people around her. After asking her what her hobbies were, she said, “reading, playing basketball, sleeping, and studying.” She says her plans after high school are to attend UMKC for a degree in Biomedical Sciences to become a physician one day. We wanted to know what her favorite school memory was from her time here and she replied with, “When Seger Ruiz, Eli Glueck, and I got written up for bullying my sister, Ayne Held, during class.” Next up, prepare for quite the list, because we also asked who her favorite underclassmen were: Ayne' Held, Hayden Held, Corbyn Held, Logan Horton, Eli Glueck, Devin Best, Bronson Trost, Gracie Swinford, Addison Stratton, Jaxon Cannon, Leyton Hanback, Holden Stanley, Reese VanPelt, Madison Chapman, Paige Wilhite, Zoe Bentley, Braden Wicker, Carson Spies, Jacob Vandeven, Gavin Perry, Eli Nix, Julie Myers, Grady Johnson, Grant Johnson, Dane McMullin, Adam Swinford, Ty Atkins, Paige Soares, Mason Vaughn, and the Jr. High Girls Basketball Team. Held tells us that her favorite teachers from the previous year were the Nixons, Mr. Hamlett, and Coach Rushin. Her favorite teachers currently are Coach Schonhoff, Coach Thompson, Mr. Dirnberger, Mr. Gramlisch, Coach Powderly, and Mrs Swinford. Her favorite subject in school is science. Miss Held tells us that her role models in her life are her parents. “I've seen them work hard their entire lives to make sure that my siblings and I have a comfortable one. They are always supporting us in everything we do, and that support does not go unnoticed. The person I am today is because of my parents.” To end her spotlight off strongly, we told her to give us any other information she might want to share with us, like favorite interests, foods, or animals. She says she absolutely loves potatoes because there are so many different ways to eat them. Her examples were: tater tots, baked potatoes, french fries, mashed potatoes, potato casserole, hash browns, potato soup, chips, and potato skins. “The possibilities are endless,” she says. Her zodiac sign is Aries.
This is Senior Matthew Berry. Berry’s zodiac sign is Cancer. During Berry’s time at CHS, he has participated in band all through-out his high school years. When asked what hobbies he enjoys, he replied by saying that he enjoys playing in the school band, riding four-wheelers, driving an Argo across lakes, and driving around while cutting donuts in corn fields. Berry’s favorite teacher and subject is Mr. Martin’s band class. When asked who is the biggest role model in his life, he said all of his teachers. Some facts Berry would like to share is that his favorite food is pizza. Berry’s plans following graduation is to work. Lastly, his favorite underclassmen is Dalton Allen.
Gavin Burden is very active within the CHS community as in being a part of BETA Club, FCA, FCCLA, FBLA, and Student Council throughout his high school years. Burden also stated that he enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics for STUCO. Throughout Burden’s memories of CHS, two of them stood out the most; he recalled that one time on an FBLA trip, they threw a birthday party for Rayney Held in a hotel room. The other time, Calkins was very proud to show his class his giant box of note cards and was walking around with it when the box ripped and note cards flew everywhere! When asked what Burden’s favorite hobbies were, he replied with exercising, baking, playing video games, and going to get coffee with his mom. Burden stated that he would like to share some of his favorite interests such as learning new recipes, going on walks, trying new restaurants, and his zodiac being a Taurus. As well as loving the foods guacamole and carrot cake, his favorite animal is a house cat. Burden’s favorite underclassmen are Tanner Morehead, Madison Pobst, and Ayné Held. Out of the teachers at Chaffee High School, Burden’s favorite teachers are Mr. Lee and Miss Hawkins, along with his favorite subjects being art and history. One of the questions we asked Burden was,"Who is a role model in your life?" He responded with, “Mom - she is a very brave and courageous woman who has always believed in me and stuck by my side. I think she would give me the world if given the chance and I can only hope to become the amazing person she is.” Burden has much planned out for after he graduates from CHS. Burden plans to attend CTC for one more year after graduation to complete his culinary arts certification. Afterwards, he hopes to pursue a career in the food industry. Burden’s over all dream is to become successful, happy, and rich.
Ryder Chapman is a senior here at Chaffee High School. During his time at CHS, Ryder has played football all three years. Ryder also participated in basketball and track for one year. Ryder is a Student Council representative, a member of FCA, Varsity Club, BETA Club, FBLA, and he is also the leader of The Red Devil Pep Club. Ryder is also many other things like Homecoming King, Spirit Leader, Most Unforgettable, PE Warrior, and lots more. His favorite underclassmen are: his best friend Brooklyn Reischman, Ayne' Held, Braden Wicker, Carson Spies, Levi Mckinnie, Kade Atkins, Craig Hanlon, Jace McCall, Larissa Hanback, Carter Cossou, Logan Horton, and Zoe Bentley. Ryder's favorite things to do outside of school include riding around and listening to music with his best friend ever: Brooklyn, playing games with his friends, and watching UFC at Dogwood. Ryder states that one person he looks up to is “ Mr. Ducote because, um, he's tall and his demonstrations in the science field push me to be the, um, best, um Jr. William I can be. *inserts hand motions*"
Nick (Kylie) Copen is a new senior at Chaffee. They enjoy reading, writing, and drawing, and are currently writing a mini-play as a side project. Their plans after high school are to move to Wisconsin, and then join the Air Force or jump straight into the workforce. Copen’s favorite school memory is going to school when they lived in Louisiana; there was "A Bring Your Pet To School" day! Everyone brought the normal animals, hamsters, cats, dogs, etc. Well, a fellow student decided he was going to bring his snake into school, and he got it out of the cage and ended up losing it for at least an hour. It was later found hiding in the teacher's cubby behind her desk. The teacher jumped extremely high out of fright because she forgot that someone had lost their snake. Copen’s favorite underclassmen is fellow Game Club member, Mason Hampton, a junior. Their favorite artist for music is Cavetown, their favorite song being Boys Will be Bugs. Copen’s favorite animal is their cat named Nyx, a little black cat with green eyes. Their zodiac sign is a Libra, having a birthday in October.
When asking Devon Hanners what activities he was involved in during his high school experience, he said, “I have been in FBLA, FCA, FCCLA, Journalism (for 4 years), Band (for 6 years).” Hanners' hobbies include driving around at night, going to the gym, traveling, and watching movies. Hanners' plans after high school are to go to a Three rivers college for 2 years, then transfer to SEMO for the remaining 2 years to be a teacher, or he is just going to get an online job, buy an RV, and travel the United States. Hanners’ favorite high school memory would be when the band went to parades, the Jackson band festival, performing field shows, and going to MSHAA band concerts. They always have a good time and have fun. Hanners’ favorite underclassmen include Jermey Kilburn, Trinity Weaver, Lauren Ludolph, and EJ Morgan, Madison Golightly. Hanners' favorite teachers include Dulcie Mayberry, Alex Martin, Taylor Werdehausen, and Andy Cannon. Hanners' mom is his role model because she helps him whenever he needs help with something and whenever he is upset she will do what she can to make him feel better. She is always at Hanners’ band parades and field shows. His favorite animals are dogs. They have a pit bull named Hercules, a dog named Milo, and a dog named Wali. A random fact about Hanners is that his zodiac sign is Cancer.
Mckenzie Eichhorn has attended Chaffee High Jr/Sr School for all four years. When asked what activities and sports Eichhorn has participated in, Eichhorn responded “Band. Since middle school. I enjoy putting in the work to get good results, and the structure needed to be able to get to all of the events.” Eichhorn says their favorite hobbies are “reading, writing, and watching shows.” When asked what Eichhorn's plans were for after high school, Eichhorn said “going into marine biology, unsure about a specific job as of now”. Eichhorn says their favorite school memory is “Kitana's reactions throughout the entirety of Of Mice and Men.” Eichhorn's favorite underclassmen are “Trinity Weaver and Julianna Goodholm.” When asked who Eichhorn's favorite teacher or subject they said “my favorite subject is science, but favorite teachers are Werdy and Martin.” Eichhorn's star sign is a Virgo.
