ATAR (optional HSC Exam) - 2 Unit
This course provides students with the opportunity to obtain national vocational qualifications for employment in the business industry.
This course will provide basic business skills and will introduce students to business proposals and organising finances for new businesses.
It is intended that students studying this course will gain an AQF Certificate III in Business, or a Certificate of Attainment for competencies successfully completed.
The skill needs for business services are diverse, and transferable across industries. Skills such as creativity, critical thinking and problem solving are increasingly important to support collaborative work. Technology allows for collaboration between workers of different locations, contributing to globalisation and an increasing level of diversity among team members.
Sectors within the business services context include compliance, conveyancing, human resources, information management, marketing, office administration, project management and work health and safety.
Students completing this course are eligible to sit an optional, written HSC examination. The questions will be drawn from the Mandatory Focus areas and associated Units of Competency. The purpose of the examination is to provide a mark which may be used in the calculation of the ATAR. The examination if independent of the competency-based assessment and no impact on the eligibility of a student to receive an AQF qualification.
Obtaining a Certificate III can be used as entry into some universities, which as a guide offers equivalent rank of 67.
