Industrial Technology is ideal for students with an interest in working with timber and learning about the timber industry. It allows student to specialise in timber products and furniture technologies. The stage 6 course is a progression from Woodwork in junior years. However, students do not have to complete these subjects in stage 4 and 5 to select Industrial Technology Timber in stage 6 .

Important information
-This is a hands-on practical course. However, it is not practical work alone; students will also engage in the theoretical aspects of woodworking and the timber industry. The theory component is a significant part of the overall assessment in this subject.
- In Year 12, students will need to organise, and pay for, their own major project materials.

Stage 4 - Materials Wood
Stage 5- Year 9/10 Woodwork
Stage 6- Industrial Technology Timber
Course Description
The Year 11 course consists of project work and an industry study task. This provides a solid introduction to the focus area as well as an introduction to processes, skills and practices relevant to the design, management, communication and construction of practical projects.
The Year 12 course consists of the design and management of a major practical project and folio. The experience of project management contributes to greater development of knowledge and skills of the focus area.
Particular Course Requirements:
Interested in the Design and Production of Fine Woodwork.
External Assessment:
External HSC Exam – Multiple choice, short answer, extended response
HSC major project
