2 Units, Non-ATAR
This course is your backstage pass to the world of live entertainment. Launch your career as a stage technician and learn the skills you need to work behind the scenes at concerts, clubs, theatres and conventions, to bring production to life.
It is intended that students studying this course will gain an AQF Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services, or a Certificate of Attainment for competencies successfully completed.
There are many career choices across the entertainment industry. Some jobs are highly creative or technical, while others are management or customer service oriented. Expertise in technical production is sought after in a range of live performance and event contexts. Key industry priorities are to ensure maintenance and improvement of technical skills and expand capacity to utilise opportunities offered by digital technology, as well as training and development for a new generation of skilled workers to meet workforce needs.
Students completing this course are eligible to sit an optional, written HSC examination. The questions will be drawn from the Mandatory Focus areas and associated Units of Competency. The purpose of the examination is to provide a mark which may be used in the calculation of the ATAR. The examination if independent of the competency-based assessment and no impact on the eligibility of a student to receive an AQF qualification.
Obtaining a Certificate III can be used as entry into some universities such as Newcastle University, which as a guide offers equivalent rank of 67.
