Student artists
Jacob is a student in the Public Art Design class, who worked on the Jumping Jellyfish art piece in the Patchwork Pathways project. He hopes that having a public art piece will mean that he will leave an impact on his community before he goes to college. Abstract art inspires him as an artist and being able to inspire others is his favorite thing about creating art. He doesn't currently have plans to pursue anymore art experiences but he was excited about being able to work on this project for his city.
Leah's one of the Public Art Design students who worked on the Flopping Fish design. To them, having public art in the Cuyahoga Falls area is very important and they hope that it will brighten everyone's day, perhaps even inspire some to make art themselves. Music, Tattoos, Oil paintings, movies, and graphite drawings inspire them and currently have plans to create art for the rest of their life, whether that be sketching, making music, or putting a portfolio together in the hopes of receiving a tattoo apprenticeship.
Nevaeha worked on the Frog King piece and is a student in the Public Art Design class. She is inspired by colorful art and normal things re-imagined into beautiful pieces of art. She grew up in Akron where art is everywhere the eye can see; statues, utility wraps, murals, design covered trash cans, etc. The Falls was, from her perspective, pretty plain in comparison, so she's very glad that there is finally something fun to brighten up the place and hopes for more projects like this in the future.
Katelynn worked on the Blue Koi piece as a student in the Public Art Design class. Claire McCarter and Jennifer Schulman are huge inspirations to them, letting them have free range of their art as well as helping develop ideas. Katelynn doesn't currently have plans to continue creating art such as this but is happy they were able to participate in something that had an impact. They hope this project makes people in the community feel happy and want to see more, making them talk about it and spread the word of this project's goals. They think that art in Cuyahoga Falls is important because it's a way for artists to be themselves, giving people something interesting to look at.
Savannah Fuller worked on both the Majestic Mermaids chalking as well as painting the Flopping Fish piece with the Public Art & Design class. Both Music and fantastical art are their main inspirations, fantasy and pop culture sculptures having a special place in their heart. A hope of their's being that their art will bring a smile to someone's face and help them to see the beauty around them, seeing their art after working so diligently is their favorite part of creating, the feeling also like being rewarded for the time and effort.
Evan is a quick painter! They worked on both the "Flopping Fish" mural and "Jumping Jellyfish" They painted the shrimp and swirling fish as well as helping to complete the Jellyfish. Evan is inspired by experimentalist art with bolds shapes. Their favorite thing about art is getting their point across in ways that are stronger than their voice. Evan hopes when people come across the sidewalk murals they will feel a bit more happy. Evan's biggest passion in the arts is making and performing music.
Design team
Nakoa was on a utility box design team for the project titled "The Magic of Time." This design shows the best sights from day to night. Art involving the sunset- as cool colors mix has always made Nakoa smile. Their favorite thing about being an artist is making the dull world brighter. When people veiw the utility box Nakoa hopes that people will think more of their small town.
Chris worked on the mosaic designed utility box, "Sea Mosaic." This concept focused on the sea and its animals. Chris is inspired by the graphic arts. He hopes that when people view the utility boxes they will appreciate the process behind it. Chris believes that it is important for Cuyahoga Falls to have public art because," it makes the city more unique compared to other cities in Ohio, and it shows involvement in the community, as well as showing how the community can work together to make it happen."
Saire designed with his team a utility box featuring Black Tigers and places in Cuyahoga Falls. He hopes that when people view the box it will educate and inspire them to visit all of the places. Saire hopes to create art in the future by making designs for other people and working in glass arts. Saire believes that public art is important for Cuyahoga Falls because it is a great way for people to share their art on a larger scale and it might inspire others to create something too.
