Here are some important things to know about ECMS Bands:
Google Classroom will be a regular method of communication for assignments throughout the year.
Student's gmail accounts should be used with all emails to any teachers or staff, and students should remember to include their first and last name, as well as the class period of the class they are in if communicating with a teacher
Communication is key between students, parents and teachers. If students are experiencing any challenges or difficulties, please let Mr. Walavich know so that he can figure out how to help sooner, rather than later .
Students will need to find the time to play their instruments at home on a regular basis. This is important because students need to be developing the strength, endurance, flexibility, muscle memory, and more that it takes to perform a musical instrument at a high level of fluency.
Students are expected to take their instrument to and from school everyday. Instruments should NOT be left at school overnight. If you are being checked out early for any reason - be sure to bring your instrument home.
Students will need the following at home to be successful:
Instrument in outstanding working condition
Properly oiled, greased, etc. as needed BEFORE you begin practicing
Have continuous supply of necessary reeds, valve oil, slide grease, etc.
Music Stand
Standard of Excellence Book for their instrument and correct grade level - you can either purchase these from a local music store (students are able to write in the book), or check out a used copy from our library. (Pictures below). Sometimes there are various editions available, "Enhanced, etc". Any edition will work fine!

7th grade - Book II (Blue)
