Help improve your neighborhood air quality

Program Summary

Community members become neighborhood scientists! My People, My Air is a community air protection program that provides community members with the tools they need to improve their air quality.

How It Works:

• Anyone in the community can join a Community Air Action Team (CAAT)
• Each CAAT will be given hand-held air monitors and be trained to use the monitors to assess air quality in their neighborhoods
• Cal State University, Channel Islands students will collect and map the data collected by the CAATs
• Once neighborhood air has been thoroughly evaluated, there will be a community meeting held for CAATs and public officials to review the data and discuss improvements to air quality that could be made

This is a free community program, and all training and equipment will be provided. We hope this program will help community members be more informed about the air they breathe and feel empowered to take necessary steps to improve their air quality.

Community Air Monitoring Session

We're taking our hand-held monitors out on the town! Join us and your neighbors to use the monitors to measure particulate matter in our air.

We are currently in the first cycle of this two-year program. Future meetings in Oxnard and Ventura will be scheduled. The program will close with a neighborhood charrette where CAATs meet with officials from the Air Pollution Control District (APCD), CSUCI, CFROG, etc. to review data and discuss the process, takeaways, and recommendations.
