June 8th to August 3rd
In our Health Science Immersion Program (H-SIP) high school students hear from health professional speakers as they learn about the academic, research and professional care settings of the health sciences field. In our Computer Science Immersion Program (C-SIP), students explore the changing world of technology as we hear from tech professionals and explore fields such as coding, web development, software and user design. In our Engineering Immersion Program (E-IP) we explore subjects such as chemical, civil and computer engineering. In our new Environmental Science Immersion program (E-SIP), students explore current environmental issues as we hear from working environmental professionals.
All class years can apply, and all programs are free for all students whose families qualify for the Free and Reduced lunch program.
Summer Junior Program Announced for 2024!
The Summer Junior Volunteer Program will return to West Campus this summer! This program is for teens, ages 15-17 years. Limited space available. Summer Juniors are selected through a multistep application process. The Summer Junior Program is a very competitive leadership program and there is potential for more applicants than available openings. Please keep in mind, not all applicants may be accepted.

Students graduating during the first week of the program are eligible to apply and if selected will join on June 10 for 9 weeks.

Up to 10 students will be selected to pair each to an MD Anderson faculty member. The participants will work during normal business hours in their mentor’s laboratory working on research.
Students will receive a stipend of $680/wk to help defray expenses during the program. The program does not provide for housing, parking, transportation, food, or otherwise.
No new applications will be taken after Jan. 19, 2024. We will select students and offer invitations on Feb. 14, 2024.

STEM & Medicine Summer Experiences: Ages 12-18
We have partnered with world-class professionals across 10 STEM-related industries to create the most immersive and exclusive work experience activities that school students can find this summer.
Brand new for 2022: watch a real-life surgery taking place; explore an aeroplane being converted into a refuelling hybrid jet; work with psychologists on a mental health ward; analyse fingerprints and blood splatter on a crime scene. And much more!
Our Medicine and Engineering experiences are already over 70% full so students should register as soon as possible.
Nine residential and three virtual summer camps this year (summer 2022).
Academy for Women and Academy for All (previously First Bytes and Code Longhorn) are both free, week-long academies geared towards students entering grades 10-12 in fall 2022. These academies are focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in STEM and allow students to explore the world of computer science, learn to code, and get a taste of collegiate life.
Our tuition-based academies focus on specific areas of computer science and are geared towards students entering grades 9-12.
This summer we are offering Academy for Robotics, Academy for iOS App Development, and Academy for Game Development.

It’s critical for young adults to have their voices heard, even if they aren’t quite old enough to vote. Past interns have found the program to be particularly helpful in enhancing their resumes for college applications. Campaign interns have even parlayed their experiences into opportunities on Capitol Hill, with state government, legal work, and fundraising!
An opportunity for highly accomplished high school students to enroll in college-level courses this summer. During the summer, students take courses taught by Rice faculty and earn credit that may be applied to their undergraduate degree. High school students will learn alongside current undergraduate students from Rice and other universities.
