Currently the largest Honors College in the Lone Star system, with students representing all CFISD campuses.
This past year our graduates successfully transferred to major institutions in the state of Texas (University of Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, University of Houston), as well as to private institutions including Rice University, Cornell and Columbia. One of our graduates was selected as the recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, the largest and most prestigious transfer scholarship in the country.
The early review application deadline for the Honors College Chancellor’s Fellows award, our most comprehensive scholarship opportunity, is typically in January. This scholarship covers up to 60 credit hours of tuition, offers up to $600 for books and a living stipend of $600 each fall and spring semester. Essentially, it is a full scholarship for the two year commitment to complete an Honors Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.

The Performing Arts division at Lone Star College-CyFair campus has two new large scholarship endowments and numerous talent scholarships available to graduating performing arts students (whether music majors or not).
Our program thrives on CFISD alumni who complete the first 2 years of their undergrad music degree and successfully transfer to 4-year institutions such as University of Houston, Sam Houston State, University of North Texas, University of St. Thomas, as well as out-of-state schools, often with honors. Our excellent student-teacher ratio with internationally recognized faculty, performance opportunities and financial support make this an ideal first step for many students. We have Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Opera Workshop, Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Band.
Our Music Department website is at https://www.lonestar.edu/cyfairmusic.htm and our Drama Department website is at https://www.lonestar.edu/drama-dept-cyfair.htm
More than ever, colleges and universities around the United States not only welcome students with disabilities into their programs, but also cater to their needs through supportive staff, academic assistance programs, free shuttles and more.
Although opportunities exist for students with a wide range of disabilities, the cost of college can still deter high school graduates from pursuing higher education. To help you finance your degree, check out the resources for prospective students and sort through the scholarships for disabled students below.
The College Board is investing $5 million per year in the College Board Opportunity Scholarships, beginning with the class of 2020. Students are eligible to earn scholarships by taking the following actions during certain windows in their junior and senior years:
10th and 11th graders can now qualify for $500 and $40,000 scholarships from BigFuture®! The scholarships are open to all students, with no GPA, test score, essay, income, or citizenship requirements. Every month, College Board awards $500 and $40,000 to students who take steps toward their career and the education they need to reach it.
To qualify for monthly drawings, students just need to sign in to their BigFuture dashboard and complete steps, beginning with starting a career list and building a college list. The scholarships are also open to 12th graders until February.
Since 2018, nearly one million students have joined this program, which provides students with a digital college planning guide and chances to earn $500 for each action they complete. When students complete all six steps, they earn a chance at a $40,000 scholarship.

Participation in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund® does not guarantee admission to or graduation from any college or university. Only the purchaser may direct rollovers, contract changes, withdrawals and changes in the designated beneficiary.
Purchasers should carefully consider the risks, administrative fees, service and other charges and expenses associated with the contracts, including Plan termination and decreased transfer or refund value. Transfer value applies to tuition redemption at Texas private colleges and universities, out-of-state colleges and universities, medical and dental schools and career schools. Match the Promise Foundation scholarships can only be used at Texas public colleges and universities, and transfer value cannot be utilized. Transfer value is limited to the lesser of (1) the costs the tuition unit would cover at a public college or university or (2) the original purchase price of the tuition unit plus or minus the Plan’s net investment earnings or losses on that amount. Orion Advisor Solutions, Inc., serves as plan manager of the Plan. The Plan Description and Master Agreement contains this and other information about the Plan and may be obtained by visiting TuitionPromise.org or calling 800-445-GRAD (4723), option #5. Purchasers should read these documents carefully before purchasing a contract.
Contracts in the Plan are not deposits or other obligations of any depository institution. Neither a contract nor any return paid with a refund is insured or guaranteed by the FDIC, the state of Texas, the Texas Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board, any other state or federal governmental agency or Orion Advisor Solutions, Inc., or its affiliates. The contracts have not been registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or with any state.
Most scholarship money that is awarded to students comes from the college they are choosing to attend and not outside scholarships? Look at this example of scholarships offered to incoming freshmen by Valparaiso University.
Searching for private scholarships can pay off, but don't forget to look at the money universities offer, too. Some colleges have separate scholarship applications, so don't forget to complete and submit.
