Stars are born, they live and then they die. Our own star, the sun, is about half way through its 10 billion year life cycle. Watch the clip to see how different stars are:
Stars are giant atom crushing machines which results in Nuclear fusion, the fusion of two nuceli. This process releases huge amounts of energy but requires very high temperatures and pressure, such as those found in the centre of stars. This process also causes new elements to form, all of the elements up to iron in period table are made in stars. Heavier elements are made in supernovas.
How did it all begin? When will it all end? Big Bang theory tries to answer some of these questions.
