This piece is inspired by my experience of staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The image created with my meaningful and personal objects, is my house. The objects look tightly packed inside the house, because despite my isolation, I am able to make the most of it, and experience lots of new ways to utilize my time. One of the objects in my piece is what I value most, my family. Due to this break, I have been given so much more time to spend with my family. I play games with them hence the cards, dice, and ball. We do family bonding activities such as karaoke hence the microphone, and we go on nature walks which is why there are a shoe and a leaf. One of my biggest passions I was so afraid I would miss out on is music. Thankfully, I can still have my voice lessons and acapella rehearsal every week, which is why there is sheet music! I have also been able to use art such as painting, drawing, and 3-D art as an outlet to manage my stress from school and express my creativity. That is why there is a pencil and a paintbrush! I also wanted to include a computer mouse because thanks to the technological support, all of my academic classes have been online. Additionally, there are earbuds, because I am able to connect to many of my friends through audio face-time and other apps on my phone. Another thing I have learned to occupy myself with is cooking. I have chosen a fork and a knife to represent this new passion. I also have a banana, because I am eating a lot of food!!! Lastly, I included two more objects that seemed important. Although I am occupying myself with these new and exciting activities, it was important to remember the ongoing worldwide virus. I put a newspaper article to show how I am constantly updated on the news and a bottle of soap because I am reminded to wash my hands thoroughly every day. I took the picture in a way so there was some light from the window shining on the assemblage. This is to symbolize that even in the darkest and hardest times, you can always find a spark of light. That is a huge lesson I'm learning from this quarantine.
