WIHSEA's goal isn't to start pumping out professional gamers, but to promote the transferable skills we all seek to master in order to be the best professionals and citizens possible.
A term coined by James O'Hagan, scholar gamers are the competing students and the surrounding community of students associated with the WIHSEA, or any competitive esports collaborative.
Scholar gamers seek to master their craft, but in doing so stay focused on academics and essential skills to make them successful no matter what they choose to do after high school. A scholar gamer looks to incorporate adequate sleep, diet, and exercise to keep a healthy mind and body. They look to shake up the traditional athletic/competitive culture in their schools, and provide a platform to showcase their talents and represent their school communities.
There are several colleges that offer opportunities to compete in esports at the collegiate level.
