Please note a review may be conducted sooner if required by our Fire Risk Assessment, by the Greater Manchester Fire Service or if a substantial reconfiguration of the site takes place before the review date.
The sound of the fire alarm will be a continually ringing siren or bell
In the event of a member of staff, tenant or visitor detecting a fire or smoke, the alarm can be raised by the activation of the nearest call point.
If the fire is detected by smoke or heat detectors, the fire alarm will be activated automatically.
The following actions will be taken upon the fire alarm being activated:
Upon hearing the Fire alarm all Tenants are to evacuate the building immediately by the nearest fire exit
Hilton House Property Management will begin evacuation proceedings
Hilton House Property Management will visually inspect the fire panel to determine which zone the alarm is activated in
Hilton House Property Management will investigate the zone identified on the fire alarm panel to confirm
If fire is present / if it is a false alarm.
Hilton House Property Management Roll Call Coordinator (RCC) to collect the Emergency grab bag which contains:
- 2 x hi vis jackets
- RCC Log sheet with up to date tenant register
- Building floor plans
- CERT Property contact list
- 2 x pens
RCC to position themselves at the Assembly Point wearing Hi vis to ensure they are identifiable to all tenants.
If the activation is not a false alarm Hilton House Property Management team will proceed to Dial 999 and request attendance from the fire service. Information to be communicated as follows :- name,
Name of the building, address of the building and contact number.
The Fire alarm at Hilton House is monitored by the fire brigade.
Hilton House RCC will receive a roll call card from each Tenant's head fire marshal this is to act as
confirmation that all employees have completed a sweep of their demised areas and that all employees / visitors have been accounted for and have evacuated safely. It is the responsibility of the tenant fire marshall to find the RCC at the assembly point & hand them this card.
Personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPS) are to be in place for any known tenants or team members that require additional support in evacuating. The Peep’s are the responsibility of the Tenant but are to be notified to Hilton House Property Management Team for information.
Lifts are not to be used for evacuation and are programmed to return to the ground floor with the doors open in the event of alarm activation.
Hilton House Property Management will ensure that nobody re-enters the building until it is declared safe to do so by the fire service.
Ensure all tenants, their team members and their visitors make their way to the fire assembly point where all persons are accounted for. The Fire Assembly point can be found on the reverse of the RCC card which has been issued to each Tenant.
Property Management will await the arrival of the Fire Service and then liaise with them to communicate floor plans that advise where the mains are located, the fire alarm zone activation location and any other required information.
Hilton House Property Management will not risk their safety in checking whether tenants have evacuated, the onus is for tenants to self evacuate immediately upon hearing the fire alarm.
If it is deemed that the alarm is a false alarm Hilton House Property Management Team will report to the fire assembly point to advise tenants to re-populate the building. Unless this is communicated from Property Management all Tenants are to continue to evacuate and remain at the assembly point.
The escape routes from the building are:
The main stairwell which leads to the main entrance via reception.
The rear stairwell which leads to the rear fire exit located on Port Street.
Stairwell leading from the Basement leading to Tariff Street at the side of the entrance to the car park ramp

The fire assembly point is located in the car park adjacent to The Met Apartments on the corner of Hilton and China St.
Please note each Occupier has a dedicated area within the car park which will be detailed at the back of their RCC Card.
Fire extinguishers are only to be used when:
Team members have been trained to do so & it is deemed safe to do so.
PERSONAL SAFETY SHOULD NEVER BE COMPROMISED
If in doubt – do not attempt to tackle the fire and proceed to evacuate the building.
- Gas Supply Shut off: Gas supply has been capped the location is in the Basement next to the lift, said
room is labelled.
- Mains fuse box: Located in the Basement , next to the stairwell which leads to Tariff street -
- Mains water inlet: Rear Fire escape stairwell, located at Basement level, accessed via the shower changing
facilities.
- Location of fire alarm panel – Located to the right of reception as you enter the building

To implement evacuation plan, a minimum of one member of staff is required
Hilton House Property Management will be onsite Monday to Friday 09:00-17:30
Outside of those times see the variations below to this procedure.
Equipment available to onsite team to implement the plan are detailed below:
Emergency grab bag containing, Building Plans, Equipment Plans, CERT contact numbers, Tenant evacuation register and 2 x high vis jackets in reception
Personal mobile phones may be used to contact emergency services should it be too dangerous to call from landlines within the building.
Outside of buildings opening times, the following arrangements are in place:
Out Of hours Fire Evacuation
In the event of a fire alarm activation out of hours, the following arrangements are in place:
Upon hearing the Fire alarm all Tenants are to evacuate the building immediately by the nearest fire exit.
The Fire Alarm is monitored by the fire alarm maintenance company & is interfaced to the fire brigade.
Keyholding is in place for the building, upon activation of the fire alarm the keyholding company (Adept Corporate Services) would be notified and would attend to investigate the property, the keyholding company are appointed by the Property Management team to act on their behalf.
Tenants are responsible for their own roll call and evacuation of the property. The keyholding company will only advise it is safe to reoccupy if they are asked by the tenant.
Tenants must not reoccupy the building until they are instructed to do so either by the fire brigade / the key holding company.
For ease of communications out of hours the fire assembly point is to be across the road from the building as referenced below
*N.B – Please note the keyholding company can take up to 15 minutes to get to site, upon arrival once they have investigated they will be contacting / communicating with the fire brigade also and they may be delayed in communicating to Tenants at the Assembly Point. Only when the fire brigade confirms that it is safe to re-enter the building, will the keyholding company be able to allow re-entry.
