I am entering my 14th year of teaching. Most of my career has been in high school Special Education, but I have also worked in the elementary setting and as a Physical Education teacher. In my previous district, I served as a Director of Sport, and I am currently in charge of our intramurals program. I have a passion for both mental and physical wellness and love creating opportunities for students to grow in both areas.
I earned my BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Children and the Arts from Fresno State, where I was also a member of the cheer and dance teams. After college, I attended Fresno Pacific University to obtain my Clear Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential and began working toward my Physical Education Credential.
Outside of teaching, I am a wife and a mother to two children—Aurora and Cayden—as well as two fur kids, Luna and Kamy. My husband has been teaching and coaching in our area for 18 years. As a family, we love camping in our trailer, and this past summer we enjoyed several trips around California.
I am excited to serve families through Yosemite Valley Charter this year as your teacher!

Hello everyone! My name is Jonathan Quijas and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year. I’ve been in education for nearly 15 years, and I’m passionate about helping students discover their strengths and reach their full potential. I am from the SF Bay Area and currently reside in San Diego.
My background prior to the K12 world includes Adult Education, specifically the Job Corps. Prior to that, I also worked in the California Community Colleges. I have a Bachelors in Communication Students with a Minor in Business Administration from San Jose State University. Additionally, I hold a CTE Credential and have also completed some coursework (graduate and undergraduate) in General Education. More to truly come!
I am married to my wife Lana, a Special Education Teacher, and I have three children, Chloes, Sophia, and Ethan. In my free time you can catch me trying new restaurants, traveling, reading, hiking, going to the beach and being with my children. I consider myself and advocate for and passionate about projects for the unhoused, children, and social justice. I am looking forward to making this a fantastic year filled with growth, exploration, success, and helping you become!
