To earn Level 3 points, you must write an essay in response to one of the following prompts:
Fiction:
The significance of a title such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is so easy to discover. However, in other works the full significance of the title becomes apparent to the reader only gradually. Choose a novel and write an essay in which you discuss how the significance of the title is developed through the author's use of details in the narrative, literary devices, general use of language.
Do not merely summarize the plot.
Nonfiction:
Write a review of the book. In your review:
- identify the author's purpose in writing the book
- summarize the main points the author makes and how they support those points
- close with your opinion of the book and why you think as you do
Write your essay/review in a Google Doc and submit it to your English teacher via Google Classroom in September.
Level 1:
For the Level 1 Task you will answer questions on the book you chose depending on whether it is fiction or nonfiction.
Write your answers in a Google Doc using your school Google account.
Save your Google Doc to submit to your English teacher through Google Classroom in September.

- Why did you choose the book? (25 words or so)
- Write about a character you identify with. (250-300 words)
Nonfiction questions:
