The Article Option

If you haven't found any books you are interested in yet, maybe articles are the way to go. There are so many good magazines and newspapers out there where you can read about current events, sports, lots of things you're interested in or want to learn more about.

You can earn your Challenge points by reading a number of articles and responding to the questions below.

Type your responses in a Google Doc that you can share with your English teacher in September. You must use your school Google account (ID#@centralreg.k12.nj.us), because you will submit your work in Google Classroom.

Make a separate Google Doc FOR EACH ARTICLE YOU READ.

10 POINTS FOR EACH ARTICLE response.

(LEVEL 1 = 100 POINTS) (Points to be applied to English class at teacher's discretion, as is the case with books.)

You can use magazines you have at home as sources for your articles, but remember, all articles and sources must be school appropriate and grade appropriate. Some links to popular news/article sources are posted below.

Respond to the following for each article you read.

1. Title of Article

2. Author

3. Title of publication where you found the article

4. About how long is the article? (You don't have to be exact.)

5. What did you know about the subject before reading the article? (25 words or so)

6. What did you learn from the article? Be specific. Give details from the article. (approximately 100 words)

7. What else would you like to know about the subject of the article? (25 words or so)

You can use your school email account to have Google News gather articles on subjects you are interested in!
