Plaster Masks

10x18x2.5 Plaster, Acrylic Paint, Fake flower, metal wire, beads ,2018
For a while I didn’t know what to do with the wire, but I decided to make it the “hair”. At the end, I decided that putting plaster on the wire would be too hard and wouldn’t add much to the piece, so I didn’t. I did have better plans for this piece, but time constraints (and laziness, honestly) didn’t allow for it. If I could start over, I think I’d make the paint color lighter, and do it all faster. I think the structure of the face was what I did best.

12X18,” Oil Pastel, Watercolor Paint, Hot Glue on Paper, 2017
I kinda just felt like doing a turtle. I started out with a forest on a mountain, but I realized that that took more than 10 seconds of effort. I really hope you think of turtles when looking at this turtle. If I could start over, I’d center the turtle, and not rip the paper as much. I feel like the shell was the most well-done. The head is kinda just a blob.
Ceramics
Austin Senske “I honestly don’t know”
7X6.4x0.4,” Earthenware Clay and Glass, 2017
I had two separate Ideas, which over time fused into one amalgam of clay. I changed the “nose” if you can call it that to balance the piece out more. I used slip and score, and some texture paper things for most of it. You should know that I had no regard for my plan while making this, whatsoever. Some pieces were too close so I couldn’t paint the in between areas well enough. If I could start over I’d change that and also paint it better. I guess I like the colors?

I had a plan, but then I realized that it was too simplistic, so I added more similar things. Just focus on the shading, it has meaning. If I could restart, I think I’d be more careful in doing things, as not to damage the paper as much as I did. I don’t really know what I like about it. It’s very much an “eh” for me.
