This module will develop an understanding of:

the key role Literature plays as the lynchpin between Language and Literacy
the relationship between Behaviour (what students will do), Content (what the student will know) and Context (where is it evidenced) within the Victorian Curriculum

Intended Outcomes
For schools to have a shared understanding of the Literacy Learning Progressions and be able to identify next steps in teaching in reading for students.
This module will address:
the purpose and structure of the Literacy Learning Progressions
how the Literacy Learning Progressions can be used to support teaching and learning
how the Literacy Learning Progressions can be used in whole school assessment and reporting practices.

Theories of Reading
Intended Outcomes
Teachers and leaders will:
Explore the theories that directly informed the creation of the English Victorian Curriculum
Examine other relevant theories of reading that support reading development in the classroom
Consider how a working understanding of a range of reading theories help effective teachers to deliver purposeful and informed teaching practice.
