Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does our school have to do the English Online Interview?

The English Online Interview (EOI) is the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) system assessment for the early years of schooling.

From 2024 it is expected that the EOI is conducted during Term 1 with all Foundation and Year 1 students who attend MACS schools.

Due to the introduction of the EOI assessment, schools are no longer required to upload assessment data for the Record of Oral Language and Alpha Assess.

Q. How do I get more EOI kits?

Additional EOI kits can be ordered via this link: https://online.mailforce.info/DETOrder.aspx?O=629

Fill out the form and the kits you order will be directly mailed out to your school.

Q. Can I just complete one section of the EOI assessment with my students?

All components of the EOI must have a response entered and the assessment finalised for each student's data report to be generated.

 Q. I'm the Literacy Leader, why can't I assign or view other classes tests or data?

You need to be given School Administration rights on the Insight platform. Your school principal should be able to grant you this permission, otherwise please contact Holly: hleonard@macs.vic.edu.au

 Q. Should students with limited English complete the EOI assessment?

The one-to-one nature of the EOI allows teachers to gain additional information about students' learning strengths and challenges. It can be used with English as an Additional Language (EAL) students and diverse learners, although in exceptional circumstances teachers should apply their judgement whether it is appropriate for individual students (see also EOI Exemptions).

 Q. What do I if there students missing from the Insight assessment platform?
