Mission Runway

Mission Runway is a dynamic program that combines textiles, design and presentation all in one. Not only will students gain knowledge of how to conceptualize their creativity, but they will also learn textile basics in order to construct a collection of outfits and accessories to be presented in the final fashion show - at the end of each term, students will showcase their masterpieces in a runway show!

Our mission is to:

• Develop a sense of fashion and design

• Help children formulate their creativity into reality

• Encourage children to perform, organize and sharpen their presentation skills
  
  

Children will be able to apply their creativity by transforming a simple t-shirt/hat into something fantastical. They will have to sketch their ideas on paper, then execute the design idea onto a real outfit. All materials will be provided for children to draw, deconstruct and reconstruct their wearables – from outfits to accessories. Then, they will show their masterpieces off at a fun and energizing fashion show. This program will certainly help children apply their creativity and develop their presentation skills - while

having tons of FUN!

Public speaking techniques and presentation skills will be woven into the curriculum so that every child will be able to improve on his/her speech and design in the course.

Illustration

Provider: Colour My World

Illustration – the art of visual interpretation and decoration of a concept or a text.
Abstraction & Communication : Expanding from a foundation of observational botanical drawing, learn to loosen up with mixed media abstraction. Then get to the heart of illustration as we investigate how to communicate a message through visual art.

Project 1: From Nature to Home
Enter the intricate world of flora through two linked projects and explore how to build colour and texture through a variety of materials. First, follow in the footsteps of Ernst Haeckel and his carefully observed scientific illustrations of plants. Then, move from realism to abstraction, combining acrylic markers and collage ideas inspired by Woody De Othellow.

Project 2: Communication Without Boundaries
If a picture can tell a thousand words, then they’re the perfect medium to communicate clearly across language barriers. Master the art of non-verbal communication and symbolic representation to produce informative illustrations for a variety of purposes, from simple instructions to a heartfelt cause.

Out The Box – Learn about the world through the medium of drama

With our love for theatre, where we expose our students to the wonderful world of STEM through the medium of performing arts. The camp focuses on introducing and adapting academic topics and concepts into unique, student-led performances by honing the creative process. Allowing the class to practice critical thinking, improvisation and cooperation, every course will result in a completely unique experience, with an end result that is entirely created by the students.

Performance – Create a short performance based on concepts found in biology, history, physics, archaeology and so many more.

Cross-discipline – By combining multiple learning areas, we widen the scope for students to learn in a fun, creative and interactive way.

Creation – be immersed in crucial theatre creation techniques like storyboarding, designing costumes/props, creative writing, directing and acting.

Imagine Art Hub

Multimedia & Digital Art

The "Multimedia and Digital Art" after-school activity introduces students to technology-fused artistic practices. Leveraging advanced personal computers, expanded internet bandwidth, and increased connectivity, this course pushes the boundaries of imagination and creativity. Students will explore new forms of art, preparing them for future technology-focused careers.

Throughout the course, students will engage in guided projects under various themes, including digital drawing, painting, and animation using a mix of software and Al.

They will understand each software's main characteristics and experience hybrid workflows, forming a foundation for more advanced academic pursuits.

This hands-on workshop covers AR, Al, and digital art, providing a fun and creative outlet while enhancing computer literacy and skills relevant to multimedia and creative careers. It adds a modern component to the arts curriculum, making it a truly cross-disciplinary course.

Breaking and DJing

"Breakdancing & DJing: Musicality in Motion" is a comprehensive after-school program designed to immerse students in the dynamic worlds of breakdancing and DJing. Through hands-on instruction, practice sessions, and performances, students will develop fundamental skills in breakdancing and basic DJing techniques. They will also gain valuable insights into the cultural significance and creative aspects of these expressive practices. This program offers students the opportunity to explore breakdancing and DJing while fostering creativity, self-expression, and teamwork in a supportive environment.

Skill development and rotating stations:

Weekly sessions will focus on skill development in breakdancing and DJing, covering moves like toprock, footwork, freezes, and power moves in breakdancing, and scratching, blending, and understanding breakdancing music genres in DJing.

Students will have ample practice time to refine their skills and explore creativity in a supportive environment. Rotating stations will alternate between DJing and breakdancing activities, ensuring full engagement and understanding of breakdancing culture.

Learning Outcomes:

• Enhancing physical fitness, coordination, and agility through fun breakdancing activities.

Ukulele

Children learn to sing and play popular songs on the ukulele in a group, building a strong foundation of chords and melodies, and have fun sharing what they learn with family and friends. Learning the Ukulele in a group allows everyone to develop skills rapidly in a supportive environment. We focus on developing fluidity, confidence and a strong sense of musicianship. Hip Hop

A high-energy, fun dance class that features the popular hip-hop and K-POP moves of today!

Children will explore the basic movement of hip-hop dance in a fun and engaging way. This will enable the students to let loose while developing dance rhythm & coordination, creativity and musicality. Each class starts with a stretching and warm-up, hip-hop grooving and freestyling guaranteed to get our hearts pounding. Then we move into choreography set to today’s groove worthy jams which combines old and new school Hip-Hop, K-POP and today’s Pop hits!

This class will also help students build their self-confidence while promoting self-esteem. Our goal is to let each student feel extra empowered with every class! We will have a blast learning to age appropriate music and moves for the young energetic dancers! All levels are welcome.

The CDNIS Chinese Orchestra offers tutorials on Pipa, Erhu, Yangqin, Guzheng, and Dizi, along with ensemble training for performances. This program aims to deepen students' understanding of Chinese music, language, and culture. No prior experience is required, but those with experience are welcome.

Ukulele

The ukulele is a string instrument that requires coordination between both hands. Once you receive the score, you can play any song. Instructors typically encourage students to learn to play and sing simultaneously, exploring various music styles to enhance the learning experience and keep it engaging and diverse.
