16 x 20 Acrylic Paint and Sharpie, October 26, 2022
My idea was to make him floating into the air and it turned out better than I thougtht, He name is Vegeta and his is from an anime show and he looked cool so I did him. I got a reference picture from google and I made some changes so I didnt get copy writed.
First of all, I had to figure out what I wanted my painting to look like so i starting with the background color and did blue and also made some clouds in the sky so you could tell he is over the ground. After that I sketched Vegeta over the base color. When I was done with the sketch I started painting his hair and the high lights for his hair. Second I went over all the body with a tan color for the base of his body then came in and did all the high lights and different shades for the skin and face. Last thing I did was paint the shirt/body suit and did the shading after it dried. Last Last thing I did was sharpie over all the lines and that really brought it together. The only tools I used were a pencil, paint and a sharpie.
I want the audience to think that he is ready to fight or punch someone while floating in the air and he is like charging up and ready to attack. Shading has always been a hard task for me and doing it with paint is even harder in my opinion. I keep trying until I liked how it looked and at the end of the painting I was very happy how it all turned out. If i could change anything about my painting it would be the background and make it more than just the blue color and make the clouds more detailed. This painting is my portrait.
12x12 Acrylic Paints and Paint Markers, November 20, 2022
My idea was to make a bird looking out to the sunset and he is standing in the water, but as you can see it doesn't really look like the bird is standing in the water. My idea was from a picture I found on google but it looks different than the picture on google.
First of all, I made the first half on the background which was the first time I blended multiple colors together and it didn't turn out that bad. Then I blended the bottom half a bit lighter than the top half. After finishing the background I started drawing with graphite for the bird and the rocks and land. Then after sketching all that I put on the sun and the reflection on the water that didn't turn out well at all in my opinion. One of the last things I did was paint the birds and paint the big bird and land. Then the last thing I did was make all the plants and weeds with a paint marker. I really like sunsets so its something I really enjoyed painting, I want them to think that the big bird is standing in the water and its going off into the sunset but I know I could have done better to make it all more clear.
The most difficult thing for me was the background I was trying to split the top and bottom half and as you can tell it didn't turn out like I wanted it but the background was the most difficult. I just went with what I had and didn't complain because I know I'm hard on myself so I know that people will like it more than I do. I would start the whole background over again because I just don't like how it turned out because you can't tell that the bottom half is water and the top half is the sky. I think it's unique because it's just black no detail and the bird and ground and grass are black the main focus is the background which is really cool to me. I love how the grass turned out I thought it was going to be hard to make all the pieces but I found a painting market and it made it a lot easier.
