My idea was to make the hands come out the bottom of the paper and the middle hand spinning the sun on his pointer finger, the left hand holding the moon and the right hand is going up to grab the earth. It is supposed to seem like all the hands are grabbing something to "Stop" the universe or the famous quote "Reach for the Sky". I got the idea from just thinking, I've always had trouble drawing hands and what is a better way to get better than doing a project with hands? Hands were all I was going to do then I thought if they were reaching up in the sky for the planets it would turn out really good and I'm glad I did. I got my inspiration from just pictures on Google and looking for things that would look good together.
The first thing I ever did was sketch out where I wanted the hands to be an outline then before actually drawing them. After figuring out where the right placement for the hands was going to be I drew the left hand first and that took me a whole 2 hours. From the left hand to the middle I started learning where the shadows were going to be and it became easier to draw hands. After finishing all three hands it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do in the blank white space at the top. Once I figured out I wanted to make the hands reach for planets I outlined where I wanted them and came up with the left hand holding the moon, the middle hand spinning the sun on the pointer finger, and the right hand reaching for the earth. After that, I drew in the moon to the best I can, then the earth, and lastly, the sun which was hard to try and get the lighting right. The last thing I did was blend from the bottom of the paper to the top to fill in the rest of the blank space. The artwork it's self to trying to tell you, to Reach for the Sky, anything is possible. The sky is not the limit you can go farther than that. It's a hidden meaning behind the drawing.
The most difficult thing about the drawing was trying to make the moon and the left hand. For the left hand, it was my first hand and I was scared it was going to turn out weird. It doesn't look realistic to me and looks too small. For the moon is kind of hard to tell if it is the moon. If I could reduce anything it would be the left hand, I just don't like how it looks compared to the other two hands. This drawing is most definitely realism, no doubt about it. What I think makes it unique is you have never really seen a drawing like it, yes you might have seen hands drawn and planets but not together. I love how it turned out.
