For this artwork, I decided to do a modern face and make it a plate. Then my teacher said that it would be good if I made it into a pot, so that's what I did. It was a very easy project to do and I did forget to sand it before glazing it. The mouth was the only part that was giving me a hard time. I used glaze to make the pot smooth. In my opinion, this artwork means a lot to me. I made it for my mom because she gets flowers a lot. Not only is this a regular pot, its a flower pot. I want my audience to see that this artwork isn't something I just made out of nowhere. This pot is something that was planned. The mouth was very difficult for me because it either didn't fit on the plate or kept breaking. Constantly. I ended up rolling a piece of clay out till it was skinny but not too skinny to the point where when I bent it, it broke. If I could start over, I would glaze it better and sand it. I'm going to say that this is a Abstract ceramics art piece because it isn't a realistic work of art. It's more "modern". I like this art because it resembles a face of a unreal person and I like those.
I planned to make a vase that was for my storage but then I realized, again, that my mom gets flowers a lot. She always needs somewhere to put them so this could be a good gift for her and her flowers. The chipped vase opening wasn't planned. Or the white over the glaze. I glazed with a lot of different colors because this was the first glazing I've ever done so I mixed colors. A lot. This artwork is just a gift for being the first glazing clay work I have ever done. I was very impressed with how good I had done this. I want the audience to think this is just a good-looking artwork that I've designed. Making the pot itself was very very difficult for me and my teacher herself had to jump in to help me. If I could start over, I wouldn't do anything to it. I like it just the way it is.This is a more realistic artwork because it's just a vase. I like how basic but cute it is.
This was my first ceramics painting project. I wanted to make a first-place ribbon because it reminds me of middle school track and field when I used to get first place a lot. I used gold metallic paint and plain white and blue paint. I used this because making a ribbon has to look exactly realistic to a ribbon. This artwork means a lot to me because it was my first project of the year, and it turned out well for the first time. I want my audience to see that this art project is a good thing and not a bad thing. The ribbon was the only thing I struggled with because I didn't know it would take that long to make. I asked my teacher how to make it easier and she suggested that I make a clay rolling line and loop it around. This is more realistic because there are a lot of ribbons like this. Well, the majority of ribbons look like this. I love how quick this was considering I am a very impatient person.
