For my baseline painting I chose a picture with candies in it. After looking through the cards I thought that one looked pretty cool and would be fun to paint. So first I took the paper and I decided I was going to drw the candies first. I started out with a bunch of colors and just drew different colored circles different sizes and shapes all over the paper, and the I drew on with grey some of the wrappers, I used light grey and dark grey to give it dimension and also added some white to the candy and to the wrappers so that it looked like it was in shiny plastic. I then decided to do a marble background like in the picture so I took a dark grey and started drawing lines, to soften up the lines i took a paper towel and started dabbing around the grey paint to sort of smear it and give it the washed away look. The marble was definitely hard to do and did not come out looking the best and maybe would have looked better if I had used a lighter color and maybe washed it out more to make it have more of a marble effect and not just look like lines on a paper. I feel like this is a non-objective painting because there is no story behind it or any reason for painting it.
My idea was to make this look like a old worn out picture from a long time ago. I got this idea from just looking on pinterest and seeing old looking painting and I thought they looked really cool. First I found a canvas that was square that wasn't too big just big enough to fit the vase on there. I think took a traceable paper and traced different flowers and a vase into one picture to combine it and make it my own. I then transferred the picture on the paper to my canvas. I had already painted my canvas a ver light creme color. I then traced the light pencil outline with a thin brush and black paint. To add a final little touch I add 2 little dots in 2 corners to look like it is hung up by nails on a wall. I think it gave it a good rustic look. What was most difficult was definitely having to trace the pencil outline with the small brush because there is a lot of lines and different details I did not want to miss. If I started over I might have made the vase a little bigger but other than that I don't know because I think it turned out great. I think this is considered as realistic becasue it is a realistic picture you would see in someones house plus it is just a flower vase not something crazy.
I saw an idea to make this painting on tiktok where you take different colors and take a paint scraper to make a 3D heart painting. I thought it was a pretty good idea and decided to try it out for myself. First I painted the canvas white and made some custom colors for my painting that I liked. I got kind of big globs of paint to be able to then take the paint scraper and make hearts with the globs of paint. I think the most difficult part was getting enough paint on the scraper to make a good heart shape for this. If I had to go back and change something I would probably plan out where I am going to put the hearts and probably put more. I would probably also add a couple more colors to it and maybe add some other stuff to fill up the canvas more. I think this is a non-objective painting because it has no meaning or maybe even an abstract painting because it had 3D hearts on it making it a 3D painting which isnt what you always see.
