Cloudy day in the Mountains
14x10
In this painting you see a singular deer standing front of mountains on a cloudy day. In this painting I used acrylic paint, and a large assortment of brushes. I was inspired to make this by many pictures I have seen of people visiting mountains and seeing animals like elk, birds, deer, and other cool animals. It was hard to get the texture of the mountains to make them seem like they were farther back and not just flat on the painting. It was also hard to get the deer's face to look right and like a deer. First I sketched out where my mountains and lake were going to be on the painting and how I was going to place them. I then started with painting the while painting blue to make it easier in the end so I would have to paint around the mountains to do the sky. I then did my mountains and at first I made them not as realistic as I wanted but I moved on and would then fix them later. I then did my lake because it is easier to paint green over blue than blue over green so it would be easier to clean up if I messed up. I then did my trees and the back of the trees are darker to show the distance and dimension. I then did my deer and my clouds at the end. I decided to do my clouds at the end so that they can fit in with the shape of the mountains. It was risky to redo my mountains after everything was already done, so I had to paint around everything I had already done. If I could start over I think I would add more texture to the grass so that it didn't look as flat as it does and to make it look more like grass.
