Kathryn Grau “Flower in the Spring”
12x18”, Acrylic on Paper, 2018
My painting has a realism style because it resembles a flower which is a form of life. I symbolized the beginning of spring when flowers begin to bloom and appear in the grass. If I could change anything I would change the size of my pedals to be the same size because there are not the same on around the flower. I love the detail of the center of the flower because I like how it adds detail and texture to the painting.
Kathryn Grau “Family Love”
16x20”, Acrylic Paint, 2018
My painting style is realism because it focuses on my cousin and I which is a real picture that was taken. I symbolized the love of family through the painting. I tried to portray love through the way we touch and smile and show happiness through our facial expressions. If I could start over I’d change the skin and hair because I had to change the skin tone multiple times so the arms don’t really match with the face. The hair details could have been better by making the strands more noticeable. I love the background because the purple adds something different to the painting and makes it look more unique.
Kathryn Grau “Maggie Ann”
18x24” Acrylic on Canvas, 2018
My idea for this painting was to paint a picture of me with one of my very good friends. I wanted to make a painting that showed our happiness that comes out when we’re together. This painting symbolizes the love I have for one of my friends. I wanted to show how close and meaningful our friendship is. If I could start over I would change the faces because I don’t feel they look very realistic. I think my background was successful because it makes the painting unique by how different the background is from the main focus of the painting.
