I got this idea from my liking of the desert. I just find the cactus to stick out of the desert the most. The cactus is the plant of the desert, which is why I wanted to do it. I first started by sketching out the cactus and the floor of the drawing. I then added color and then prickles and direction for the cactus limbs. The difficult part of this project was shaping the cactus, but after a lot of practice, I got it right. The art style is realistic as it somewhat looks like a cactus.

My Idea came from my baseline. I pretty much just wanted to capture the essence of the desert. The cactus is almost symbolic of the desert. I first sketched out the cactus and the floor and the background. After that, I used graphite powder to make an erasable background. The artwork is dark and gloomy, as if the cactus is your last resort to find water in the night of the desert. The most difficult part of the project was figuring out how to do the background; however, Mrs.Garrity helped me figure out how to do the background. The art style is realistic as it looks very similar to real life.

I got the idea to draw a turtle because I liked the idea and theme of the desert. I like the shapes and textures on my drawing, especially the rough look of its legs and body. I started with a pencil sketch and used shading to make the turtle look more real. I drew scales on the legs for texture and used circles and squares on the shell to make it look more interesting. I didnt color the shell or add a background because I wanted the focus to stay on the body. The hardest part was making the shading look smooth and natural. The drawinging isnt fully done, and i plan to finish it in Quest. If i continue to work on this project, I would add color to the shell and maybe draw a background. I like how the textures on the turtle’s body make it stand out.

I was inspired by the rose as a symbol of love and its mix of beauty and pain, using red, green, and black markers to draw and sketch. The idea started as a simple rose sketch and grew into a more defined drawing. I began with a pencil drawing, then outlined the rose with black, added red for the petals, and green for the leaves, layering for depth. The colors and the way the rose is formed really make the rose pop. The rose shows both the warmth and sadness of nature. The hardest part was finding the right balance between simplicity and detail. If I started over, I’d experiment more with color layering before outlining. The artwork mixes realistic shapes with bold lines, and I love how the simple colors stand out and create a strong mood.
