The source of inspiration for my work was the minotaur from greek mythology. I have always admired how cool and creepy it looks. I also drew inspiration from the African that is where I got the white designs and gold horns from. After I made the plaster face I created two horns, two ears, and a tuft of hair. After that I painted the base coat brown then continued with the tuft of hair, horns, ears, eyes, freckles, highlights, and the contours of the nose. I then created the piercing and attached them with hot glue. Lastly I added black and dingy brown on the insides of the ears the lips horns and tuft of hair. I originally had a very light base coat and other areas were lighter too. But when i painted it was way darker then I imagined. So I made the other areas darker to match to face. I learned how to use plaster and how to make different parts out of it like horns and ears. I took a creative risk doing this work of art because of all the different parts and making it look like what I wanted.mI like the way my artwork looks creepy but beautiful. If I could start over I would probably not mess with the eyes as much because I made them look cool and glossed over but I kept on adding more and more paint and now it just looks yellow.
"The Cruise Suite"
9'0" x 12'0"
Paper, Pencil, and an eraser
My source of inspiration for this art piece was that I have always wanted to go on a cruise and I love going to hotels. My process went through to create this piece of artwork was first Figuring out what kind of furniture I wanted to be in it. Second I started a rough draft including the furniture. After working out the full design I started the actual project. Lastly, I started shading and highlighting in the appropriate places. When I finished my rough draft I realized I had no flooring. I didn't want to do wood or tile flooring because you would not see that in hotels so I concluded that I needed a rug. I took a creative risk with the rug because I did not know if it would really look like a rug or it was one big mistake, it worked out and know I know how to draw rugs. My favorite part of this whole project is the decals on the walls. If I could start this project over I would not put a chair so close to the T.V because it doesn't make sense to sit so close to the T.V.
“The king of many faces”
7'0" x 4'0" x 1/2'0"
Clay and Glaze
My source of inspiration was a demon that i had recently drawn with 3 eyes. Also Cantrell with his unique mouths. I cut out the face shape like my idea sketch. Then I pressed designs into it. I then made all the eyes, mouths, nose, and divider for the crown and his head and attached them with slip (clay and water). After that I let it dry, after it was dried I glazed it then put it in the kiln. I accidentally made a hole in the face and instead of filling it i kept as a design. I took a creative risk with as many face parts as I did, I learned how to use glaze. I like how many eyes it has I think it makes him look ominous and kinda creepy with the red addition to them. If I could change this I would spend way more time with the glazing so it is more clean cut and precise looking.
"Ancient"
6'0" x 4'0"
String and yarn
What I like the most about my finished art work is the Rafi (tassels) I think the make it look like it is from ancient times which wha I was going for. If I could start over on this work I think I would do it tighter because I like the way it looks.
