"Mountain Breeze"

18x24'' Acrylic paint, Paint brushes, sponge, 2022

This is my first landscape painting for Painting 1. The reason why I wanted to do a grassy mountain area is that I just really like these types of paintings and wanted to replicate them. There were a lot of steps to this project and it took around 2 weeks to complete. The first step was the background. I split it in the middle and painted the top light blue, and the bottom dark green like a swampy area. The next step that I took was to map out where the mountains and the clouds will go, because they were in the background. After that, I painted the trees and the river, and then I was done with the main part. Finally ,I did some final touches to the mountains and the trees, and it was done! the meaning behind this artwork was to show the beauty behind nature and its environment. The most difficult part of this was the trees, because I've never done trees like this, so I had to experiment. If I were to change anything about this, it would be to make the grass a little bit lighter than it is. My favorite part of this artwork is the mountains. I really like how you can see all sides of the mountains and their roughness of them.

"We love Spider-man!"

18x24'' Acrylic paint, Paint brushes, Markers, sponge, paper towels, 2022

This was my second painting in painting 2. My inspiration for this piece of art was that I watch a lot of Marvel movies with my family and thought it would be fun if I painted a character from the movies. I also thought that it would be cool if I made a painting for my little cousin and gave it to him, because he is in love with spiderman, and would love to have a painting of him. There were a lot of steps to make this painting. First I started out by tracing spiderman, and making the lines very clear so that I could paint over them. I used a sharpie to do this. Next, I started mixing colors to the closest I could get to looking like the actual spiderman. After that, I started to paint, and it started to look good! Then, I retraced the sharpie outlines, to make them pop more. Lastly, I painted any of the paint outside of the lines with white so that you couldn't see my mistakes. This artwork shows how anyone can be a hero. I really wanted to give this to my little cousin because he looks up to "spiderman" , and this would give him happiness. There is joy behind why I painted the picture, and that is because I like to see the people I love happy. Painting spiderman was difficult for many reasons. The first reason is because I kept going out of the lines and making mistakes. Another thing I had struggles with is how thick I should make the sharpie. I had to repaint over the lines many times to get them how I wanted them. Although it was a difficult painting, it was very much worth the time. This painting is mostly a realism painting. I say this because I made spider-man as close to how he looks as he looks in real life. But, I didn't make a background, so the background wouldn't be real. I tried to match the colors as best I could of how they look in the movies. He also looks like he is hanging off of something, and that is a common stance for him. If I had to change anything about my art it would be to make him black and white instead of red and blue, to put my own little spin on it.

"Sunset City"

18x24'' Acrylic paint, Paint brushes, ruler, water bottle cap (for the sun), 2022

This was the third and final painting that I finished in painting 1. My inspiration for this painting was of all of the sunsets that I've seen. The ones near the coasts like California are my favorite. I also like how the colors blend together in the sky, so I wanted to try and see if I could recreate it in a painting. There were many steps to making this painting. the first step I took was to put my buildings down and trace the lines so that they were dark and easy to see. Once I got the city done, I added small details, like the birds in the sky, and the sun. After that, I added the sky and blended the colors just like the sky in California. My last step was to make it look like it was in a circle, so I made a full circle around it and I was done! There isn't a specific meaning behind this painting, but if I were to put a meaning behind it, it would be to keep calm and live life. Lots of people are always busy with other things and sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and really let life sink in . I say this because when I look at the sky, I really sink in life and the earth, and it calms me down. There was a lot that was difficult to do on this piece of art. The first thing that was difficult was painting inside the lines. Trying to paint inside the circle was very hard because it was a thin line and if I barely painted over the line, you could see it very clearly. another thing that was difficult was trying to figure out the perspective of the buildings. A lot of the times I would have to erase my buildings because it just didn't look right with the perspective. If I had to change one thing about this piece of art, it would be to make some small details to the buildings so that it would make it look a little bit more real. this is a realistic painting. I think this because the sky looks like a realistic painting, but, I do think if I added detail to the buildings then it would look more real. I was trying to go for the realism, but I do in fact like the buildings being kind of bland so that the sky pops even more than it already does.
