My idea was to make a vase to put in the kitchen. Mrs. Garrity gave us this assignment in class. She wanted us to make a vase with a design on the outside with a stencil. Sometimes I go through tough times, and working with clay helps release the stress.
My steps for creating my vase. My first step was, to get a big ball of clay. Then, I took the clay to the slab roller to make it flat. Next, I started using a needle to cut a design into one side of the clay. When I was finished I folded the clay so I could cut the same shape on the other side to be even. Then, I took away the extra clay and put it to the side. I used a piece of cloth to make the design on the clay. I used some slips to connect both sides of the clay to make it smooth. When I was all finished I used the leftover clay to make the bottom of the vase. I used a slip on my fingers to smooth out the bottom.
Something I found difficult was making the inside of the vase smooth. I wanted to make sure that the inside of the clay didn't have any cracks or areas where water could leak out. I overcame this struggle by asking for help, trying different ways, and not giving up. If I had to start over I would change the way the corners look and add more of the design to them. I love how the vase turned out even with the little mistakes. The shape is very different and unique.
My idea was to make bowls to put jewelry in. Mrs. Garrity gave us a wheel assignment this semester.
My idea when i was making this project was a chip bowl for the kitchen counter.
I am someone who loves trucks. My idea was to make a red christmas truck. Usually the bed of the truck will have a tree but I wanted to put candy in mine instead. I was inspired to make this project after I saw a picture of a truck on the internet. Asking Mrs. Garrity helped me get throught all my challenges and struggles.
