"Two Faced"

"Two Faced" is an expressive piece that shows teens daily role in society. There are many times where I have look happy and joyful, but on the inside I don't feel the same. This is the same feeling for many teens especially with mental health issues and should be brought to awareness in our world. It started off by me wanting to bring awareness to sexual assault, and I did research on symbol of that. I found that medusa is the symbol, so I wanted to recreate her. I then looked at the face molds and decided to do a spin on a medusa, and also add some cultural differences. The face molds reminded me of my grandpa's African facial art pieces, so I decided to do SA for African Americans. If I could change something about this art piece I would have added more facial details and made the snake hair/curly hair different. But what I love about this art pice is that it obviously resembles two emotions, one that is always showing and one that is behind the smile.
